In Christ Alone: There Is A Higher Throne

In Christ Alone

Lin got me this new CD. Been looking around for some new hymns for today and I think I'm coming across quite a few. I particular like this from the 'Live' Disc, 'There Is A Higher Throne'. I like the simple anthemic way this song is written. At first I was wondering, what is this Higher Throne? Then I googled and found a good write up of the song here. Friends who are on the same Local Area Network as me can find this song in my iTMS. Nope iTunes Music Store has yet to reach the shores of Singapore but iTunes Music Sharing is definitely a good alternative.

Here's an except from the above article:
Often, worship today – our lives, thoughts and singing – is preoccupied with our experience of God and life now. Yet the reality of his throne should not only inspire us with an urgency to speak of him in all we do, but it should also inspire us to invest in and look forward to the promise of real life. Life on earth is only a shadow of all that is to come. This is our training ground, but one day school will be out and real life will begin – a life of joy, servicfulfillmentent, responsibility and adventure. There we will find our home before the throne where all heaven's voices will sing in perfect song, honouring the Lamb.

Higher Throne
There is a higher throne
Than all this world has known
Where faithful ones from every tongue
Will one day come
Before the Son we'll stand
Made faultless through the Lamb
Believing hearts find promised grace
Salvation comes

Hear heaven's voices sing
Their thunderous anthem rings
Through emerald courts and sapphire skies
Their praises rise
All glory, wisdom, power
Strength, thanks and honour are
To God our King who reigns on high
For evermore

And there we'll find our home
Our life before the throne
We'll honour Him in perfect song
Where we belong
He'll wipe each tear-stained eye
As thirst and hunger die
The Lamb comes as our Shepherd King
We'll reign with him.

Anniversary

It’s been fourteen years? Wow! Since the songs of Steven Curtis Chapman have long been a constant source of inspiration for me in the respect of love/marriage, I revisited them to reflect on Isabel and my marriage.

Here’s one that’s really appropriate at this time when Isabel is going through a job transition...

Song: Go there with you
Album: The Great Adventure

[Eph 5:25-31]

I know you've heard me say these words before
But every time I say I love you the words mean something more
I spoke them as a promise right from the start
I said death would be the only thing that could tear us apart
And now that you are standing on the edge of the unknown
I love you means I'll be with you wherever you must go

CHORUS
I will take a heart whose nature is to beat for me alone
And fill it up with you - make all your joy and pain my own
No matter how deep a valley you go through
I will go there with you
And I will give myself to love the way Love gave itself for me
And climb with you to mountaintops or swim a raging sea
To the place where one heart is made from two
I will go there with you

I see it in your tears - you wonder where you are
The wind is growing colder and the sky is growing dark
Though it's something neither of us understands
We can walk through this together if we hold each other's hand
I said for better or for worse I'd be with you
So no matter where you're going I will go there too

CHORUS
I will take a heart whose nature is to beat for me alone
And fill it up with you - make all your joy and pain my own
No matter how deep a valley you go through
I will go there with you

I known sometimes I let you down
But I won't let you go - we'll always be together

CHORUS
I will take a heart whose nature is to beat for me alone
And fill it up with you - make all your joy and pain my own
No matter how deep a valley you go through
I will go there with you
And I will give myself to love the way Love gave itself for me
And climb with you to mountaintops or swim a raging sea
To the place where one heart is made from two
I will go there with you
I will go there with you
I will go there with you

While Shepherd Washed Their Socks....

Taken from Matthias Media Website

Every year at Christmas, millions of people sing songs about Jesus. Yet most of those who sing at carol services won’t really know what they’re singing about.

"While Shepherds Washed their Socks..." is a bright, full-colour, evangelistic leaflet that uses the familiar language of the carol 'While shepherds watched their flocks by night' to explain the gospel -- the real reason that we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.

Bloggers note: Hehehe... really funny cover. :)
